    Fundraisers

Some of the wonderful activities teachers are able to do with their classes are possible because of the financial help of the Creekside community. One of the aspects of Creekside’s fundraising that is essential is that all activities are planned to not only raise money, but many also act as a community building activity for the school.  This means that during fundraisers both the Creekside families and staff are given a chance to get to know each other better.  We also explore ways in which we can develop even stronger connections with the greater Boulder Valley Community.

    • There are a number of ways you can help through both ongoing and seasonal fundraisers within the school and with local businesses.
    • Shine On Talent Show: Every Creekside student is invited to share their talents with the greater Boulder Community.  Our Shine On event welcomes anyone to come see the amazing range of talent our students have: singing, piano playing, dancing, gymnastics, joke telling, skit writing, painting, video creating, sculpting, drawing – the list goes on and on!  All proceeds support the Art and Physical Education programs at Creekside.
    • Kermes – Latino Food and Fun Festival for Everyone!  Every year between 15-20 Latino families shop, chop, cook and serve all the food for this incredibly delicious event.  Fun games and dancing after dinner build community and everyone leaves with a warm heart and full belly! Read-a-Thon: The Read-a-Thon has both in-school and out-of-school events and all proceeds go to purchasing books and literacy supplies for the school. The focus is not on prizes, but on fostering a love of reading in all our students.
    • Scholastic Book Fair: Scholastic books are on sale in the library during the week of fall Parent Teacher conferences. Proceeds directly benefit the library.
    • KidzArt: Transform your child's artwork into greeting cards, journals, and calendars. Creekside's Art teacher will send information home in October so orders will be filled in time for holiday gift giving. Proceeds from KidzArt sales are used specifically to support the art program and provide art supplies for all students.

In 2012-2013 Creekside Community decided to change some of the strategies for fundraising by adding Grade Level Fundraisers.  Each grade is asked to come up with a fundraiser that has low parent volunteer time.  Companies or other organizations are asked to donate money rather than just asking our parent population and also has a building community aspect to it.  Here of some examples:

    • 5th Grade – Spaghetti Dinner is held in April to pay it forward and raise money for next year's Outdoor Education trip. Watch for advertisements in the spring.
    • 4th Grade – Noodles & Co Night – Creekside and the broader community came together in a fun family night to raise money. It was like a summer community picnic, but indoors, and parents had the night off from cooking!  Creekside graduates came back with their families to share what a great impact Creekside had on their lives.
    • 2nd Grade – Parents in this grade are marketing the King Soopers card program for several months and encouraging all Creekside families to use their King Soopers cards by making sure that every family has a King Soopers card and understand how it works.
    • 1st Grade – a parent in this grade had a connection with an organization of CU graduate students who threw a garage sale that was open to the public and all the proceeds went to support Creekside students.  It was a wonderful way for the greater community to learn about our incredible school!

The following businesses will donate a portion of your sale amount directly to the school. The amount varies by business and costs you nothing. Typically, all you have to do is ask the cashier to direct that donation to Creekside and the school benefits immediately.

    • King Soopers: This is probably our most straightforward fundraiser. Get your refillable King Soopers Cash Card (valid at many other Kroger stores and gas stations too), load it up, and start shopping. Every time you load your card at the cash register or service desk, King Soopers gives Creekside 5% of that amount. It couldn't be easier and since most people go grocery shopping anyway, you donate to the school and there is NO EXTRA COST for you.
    • Amazon Smile: Use this link to purchase items from Amazon and, also at no cost to you, Creekside receives a portion of the sales.
    • OfficeDepot: Buy your school and office supplies and tell your cashier to give credit to Creekside Elementary. Office Depot will credit 5% of your purchase to Creekside teachers' purchases.
    • Target: One percent (1%) of your expenditures at Target goes to Creekside when you use a Target credit card.
    • Albertson's and Safeway: Register for Creekside to receive a donation every time you use your discount card at these grocery stores.
    • Grandrabbit's Toy Shoppe and Play Fair Toys: Tell the clerk you want our school to accrue credit before you complete any transaction at the store.
    • Box Tops for Education: Clip box tops from participating General Mills products and drop them off in the collection bin in the front hallway of the school. Creekside gets $0.10 for each box top to help support our school.
    • Whole Foods Bag Donation Program – all the money collected The Bag Donation Program for a three month period goes to supplies and activities to support our school.

Every school does fundraising, and all budgets are tight, but Creekside aims to make it fun, easy, and as painless as possible for you.  Thanks to everyone who supports our school whether with time, money, supplies, or all of the above. Every penny you give or help raise makes a difference!!!
