Our International Student Population

Creekside is fortunate to have a close relationship with the University of Colorado. We serve three of the family housing units on the university’s campus. Our school serves as the home school for many of the graduate and doctoral students who come to the university.

pic_dandelions.jpgEach year we have almost 300 students from countries such as the United States, Israel, Turkey, Korea, Nepal, Honduras, Ghana, Italy, Brazil, China, Uganda, Mexico, Philippines, Cambodia, Armenia, Vietnam, Mozambique, Taiwan, Germany, Japan, Ethiopia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, India, El Salvador, Switzerland, Guatemala and more. We also have students from the Navajo, Cherokee and Blackfeet Nations.

Many of our classroom teachers are involved in gaining or have already completed a Master’s degree program in English as a Second Language (ESL) through the University of Colorado’s Education Program. The English Language Learners (ELL) and second language acquisition strategies they are learning are probably directly linked to Creekside's improved scores for ELL learners. These important strategies are carried forward for the children in their entire school day, not just their ESL time.
