Dear Creekside Families,

CMAS testing for grades 3, 4, 5 begins on Tuesday. We are very proud of how hard students have worked this year, and wish them good luck as they show off all they have learned!

We would love your feedback on our social emotional program, Mindful Life. Please look for an email in the coming week with a link to a short survey. Thank you in advance for your participation.

The Lost and Found continues to grow. Please stop by to check if any items belong to your children.

This is a friendly reminder that school starts at Creekside at 7:55am. Students arriving after that time are considered tardy. There are many benefits your student will gain from arriving to school on time.

Did you know:
  • The likelihood of success in learning is strongly linked to strong participation in school programs which is linked to arriving on time.
  • It is very important for children to develop habits of arriving on time at an early age, beginning from the time they start school.
Arriving on time:
  • Makes sure that your child doesn’t miss out on the important learning activities that happen early in the day when they are most alert.
  • Early morning learning activity is often reading or writing your child can lose so many opportunities to learn these critical life skills.
  • Helps your child to learn about routines and commitment. Gives your child time to greet their friends before class and this can reduce the possibility of disruptions in the classroom.
  • Arriving on time every day makes children feel good about themselves.
Things to try if you are having a hard time getting your student to school on time:
  • Have a set time to go to bed.
  • Have a set time to be out of bed.
  • Have set time for starting and ending breakfast.
  • Set a time each day for homework.
  • Give your child lots of positive encouragement and acknowledge they are organised and get to school on time.
  • On arrival look for some of your child’s friends and encourage your child to go and play with their friends.
Thank you for helping your student get to school on time.

Enjoy the weekend!

Warm regards,
Francine

Interested in being on the School Board or know someone that is?

Dear Parents,

We recognize the important role all of you play in providing a voice for your school communities. For this reason, we would personally like to ask for your help in getting out the word about next fall’s Board of Education elections to folks in your communities that may be good candidates.

The BVSD Board of Education is hosting four information sessions for prospective candidates. The sessions will be a good opportunity for folks to hear directly from current board members about the district, the school board election process and what it is like to be a school board member.

  • Tuesday, April 16th at 11:30am (please RSVP to Laura Shafer at 720-561-5114 or laura.shafer@bvsd.org so that we can provide lunch)

  • Wednesday, April 17th at 6:30pm

  • Saturday, April 27th at 10:00am

  • Monday, May 6th at 6:30pm

We will provide handouts, and host an informal questions and answer session.

Four of the Board's seven seats will be decided at the November 5th election, two of which are term limited. The Director districts that are up for election are A, C, D, and G. Candidates MUST live in the director district in which they are running; however, they are voted upon by the entire BVSD community. If you have questions about the director district in which you live, please use this link: Board of Education Director District Locator Map.

Thank you again for your help in getting out the word about these important opportunities.

Sincerely,

Tina Marquis

President

Dogs on School Property
As we head into Spring, we are noticing more and more families bringing their dogs onto school property.  As a reminder, BVSD does not allow for pets of any kind (execpt approved service animals) on school property.

We have many students who are allergic to dogs, afraid of dogs and for the safety of all of our children, we ask that you leave your family friend at home.

The following is an excerpt from BVSD's Dog/Pet Guideline.  If you would like a copy of the Guideline in it's entirety, please let us know and we'll be happy to get it for you.

6. Community members, parents and students should refrain from bringing dogs on campus during drop off and pick up times. Principals may use their discretion as to how to handle individual situations.
