Cozy up with a book! The Creekside Read-a-Thon is a fun way to motivate kids to read and a fundraiser for the Creekside Library. Here’s how it works: Students keep track of the minutes they read at home and they collect pledges from family and friends for reading. Anything counts: reading the newspaper, comics, books –pre-readers can even count minutes looking at picture books or being read to by parents, family or friends.

Our all-school goal is to read 320,000 minutes during the Read-A-Thon. Some of the events that take place to amp up the fun include a pajama read-in on a Friday Night and walking to the George Reynolds branch of the Boulder Public Library for a book talk and tour.  The closing assembly is held on the last day of the Read-A-Thon and includes the announcement of how many total minutes we read, a performance by the 5th grade orchestra, and some fun raffle prizes.

So join the fun and “Cozy up with a book!”
